What is a good mobile ecommerce conversion rate in the US?

According to the latest data, mobile conversion rates for ecommerce stores in the US have been fluctuating over the past year. The most recent data from Q1 2022 shows that the mobile ecommerce conversion rate for the quarter was 2.3%. In other words, around one out of every 43 visits to an online store via a mobile device converts.

This marks a 0.2 percentage point increase from the previous quarter, but a slight 0.1 percentage point dip year over year. After hitting 2.4% in Q4 2020, the rate for US ecommerce stores fell to 2.1%. It rose slightly to 2.2% a quarter later, only to fall back again to 2.1% in Q3 2021. 

Mobile ecommerce conversion rates of US stores are significantly lower than that of tablets and desktops. Conversion rates for tablets and desktops in Q4 2021 are 3.8% and 3.2%, respectively.

If you’re an ecommerce business operating in the US, these conversion rates are what you should be targeting, as they reflect the average across all online stores there. 

What is a good mobile ecommerce conversion rate in Great Britain?

In Great Britain, conversion rates on mobile look a little different. While they’re still lower than conversion rates on desktops and tablets, they’re notably higher than the mobile conversion rates of US businesses.

In Q4 2021, the average mobile ecommerce conversion rate of online stores in Great Britain was 3.5%, holding steady from the previous quarter. This rate has actually been falling throughout the year. In Q4 2020, mobile conversion rates there were 3.7%. It increased to 3.9% in Q1 2021, before falling 0.3 percentage points to 3.6% in Q2 2021.
